Navigating the 5 Tabs
Camera. Snapchat always opens directly to the camera, not a feed, so you can capture your perspective in the moment. Use the Camera to take photo and video Snaps, apply Lenses and creative tools, and share with your closest friends or the Snapchat community.
Chat. Send Snaps to friends and groups, and make messaging more fun with your Bitmoji or Cameo. A select group of verified Creators also have access to a feature called Story Replies where you can respond back to fans directly.
Map. Learn about the world by tapping on a hotspot to see Snaps from the local community, or see what’s happening with your friends—you’ll see their Bitmojis if they choose to share their location.
Stories. Enjoy Stories from your friends along with content from Snap Stars and Discover publishers including Shows and Snap Originals. Keep up with your favorites or find something new.
Spotlight. Tap the Spotlight icon in the left corner of the app. This is where we highlight the most entertaining Snaps from the community, and where you can reach a large new audience. See what’s trending and share your best original content.
Add Your Friends & Grow Your Audience
There are a bunch of ways to connect with people you already know (friends, family, or fans), and share your profile to grow your audience.
Snapcode. Tap your Profile in the top left corner to view your unique Snapcode. You can share this code across social platforms to easily add friends on Snapchat either by tapping the Snapcode or the Share icon in the top right corner of the screen.
Username. Be sure to add your username to all of your social channels’ bios.
Contacts. You can add friends from your mobile contacts by going to your Profile and tapping ‘Add Friends,’ but first you’ll have to give Snapchat permission to access your contacts.
Suggested Friends. Your suggested friends will appear on the ‘Add Friends’ screen under ‘Quick Add.’
